Biography

I was born and raised in San Jose and Campbell and haven’t drifted far as I now live in the Palm Haven area of Willow Glen.  I was first introduced to photography in high school, but it was during my last quarter of studying engineering at UC Berkeley that I discovered my love for photography – somewhat accidentally. While browsing through the college catalog I happened, purely by chance, to find, and then manage to get accepted into, a photography course given by the Architecture Department.   It was during that class that dark room became my retreat from my technical coursework and I discovered how much I enjoyed the medium.

After graduation I focused on my career in engineering, and for all practical aspects I put photography aside.  Photography continued in the back of my mind of something that I wanted to pursue further, but it would be almost 20 years later that I’d finally do it.

I returned to Photography in 2002 by taking classes at the local community colleges initially focusing exclusively on black and white film photography.   Over the last several years I’ve focus on creating bodies of work and really enjoy the additional dimension that a set of related pictures can create.  While my most recent work has been in colorful abstracts, I continue enjoy black and white photography with special interests in night and infrared photography.
